What do I do??

I'm sure it has something to do with the new baby coming but I don't know how to handle this.. Lyla has been destroying things, getting into things she's not supposed to, back talking.. etc.. She's never been like this before. I honestly haven't even really ever had to discipline her. So how do I start now? At  3 1/2 years old..

These pics are from the baby's room.. She decided she'd go paint while I was doing the dishes..

I feel like I'm going to totally lose it..

  1. Oh no! Good luck. i say time out and be consistent. if you start you always need to do it. not just say u will. kids like consistency. if she is 3 then time out for 3 minutes. hope it gets better!

  2. That stinks. It probably does have a little bit to do with the baby coming since she is old enough to understand. She will eventually adapt though. I'm with Katie, maybe some good ol' time outs will do the trick.

  4. I still can't believe she did that. That's tough. I am not always the greatest at disciplining. I guess my only advice is to be consistent and see what kind of punishment works best for her. My son responds well if he loses certain privileges and he is about the same age. My daughter responds better to time outs.

  5. Oh gosh. I wish I knew what to say. I remember that when my mom was pregnant/had just had my little brother, it was hard for me too. I know that I certainly acted out, because I didn't quite understand, but I knew that it was a situation that was going to involve sharing, and I wasn't in the mood to share my parents and babysitters, or anyone else for that matter, with a baby. I really hope that someone who's had kids has some amazing advice for you.
