My Big Girl..

I always thought I'd be crazy over protective once it came time for Lyla to go to Kindergarten and I sort of was. I walked her to her class for the first few days but all she kept talking about it riding the bus! She was so excited that she could ride the bus because in Preschool we were out of the district. So I finally put on my big girl panties and decided she could ride the bus home from school, since it's half day kindergarten and there's only about 15 kids per bus they drop them off right at your house. And if she was still excited about riding the bus after that I'd let her ride the bus to school also. Our neighbor is in second grade and her class is right next to Lyla's and promised she'd make sure Lyla got to her class.

 She loved it!!

School Days!

Lyla had her first day of kindergarten last Friday! She was so excited but so shy when we got there. I've noticed that when me or hubby are around she gets really shy with other people. Last night at the schools open house her teacher told us she is completely different in class!

I can't believe my first baby is big enough for kindergarten now!

Summer Fun!

Last winter when it was freezing cold we bought a boat. Yep makes total sense right? Well we finally got to take the boat out on the river and it was so much fun! Hubby has been wanting to take us down the Willamette River to the docks where the big naval ships and "shipping ships" are so we decided to make a day of it..

He wasn't to sure about it at first!

Lyla and Grandma

Lyla was loving the boat. She had so much fun!

And then he fell asleep so we came back in!

It ended up only being a short amount of time on the river but we had fun and that's what counts! Can't wait to do it again and maybe next year get a tube to pull behind!

Mani Monday

I recently discovered Poppy Nail Polish, it's a toxin free polish made by a WAHM (Work At Home Mom). I've only bought the Original Coral color but so far I love it! It goes on so smooth and the color is so pretty! I also had it on for a week before it even chipped which is amazing for me!

Go check out her site and Happy Monday!

I'll hopefully be back in the swing of things later this week after I finish unpacking and getting the house back in order!! Hope you all are having a great summer!!

It's in the genes..

My little man is only 20 months old and already has a major love for cars, trucks and motorcycles. He loves to be in the garage when Daddy and Grandpa are working on the race car, or anything else involving tools and power equipment. Anytime we're outside he has to inspect Daddy's truck, gets down on his knees and looks everything over. It's the cutest thing! He even knows how to use a wrench! Out of all his toys he by far prefers to play with his cars/trucks. He also loves to watch racing on tv. He raises his hands and yells "wooooaaah!! Wooooow!"

I think we may have a future racer/mechanic on our hands!

Black Thumb

I have a completely black thumb when it comes to flowers. My mother in law bought me a beautiful hanging basket two years in a row for Mother's Day and I killed them within a month. I really wanted a pretty planter next to my door on the porch though so I did a little research and talked to a friend of mine on Instagram and decided on succulents!

I bought a big plastic planter, a can of spray paint and 5 small plants and went to work! I had to have my hubby drill a few more holes in the bottom of the planter though, there was only one.

I've always loved aloe plants and I never knew there were so many types of succulents and cacti!

After I had planted them I was out with my mother in law and saw another one that I liked so I grabbed it and added it too. I plan to pull a few pieces of one that my hubby's grandma has in her yard and add them too.

Do you have a green thumb or is it black like mine?

Happy Birthday Old Man!

In honor of my hubby's 35th birthday I thought I'd write a post about/to him!
We have been together for almost four years, married almost three and from day one I knew he was the one. We immediately just clicked. We talked so much and had such a fun time on our first date. And for the first 4 months we spent every weekend together before we decided that Lyla and I should just move in with him! He also instantly became such an amazing father figure to Lyla. He loves her like his own, she is his own. Anyone that meets us would never guess that she's not biologically his. When we found out we were going to have a boy also I was so excited for him and for the relationship they would have.

He works so hard for our family to have what we have, to do what we do and for me to be able to stay home with the kids. He's funny, sarcastic as hell, smart, kind, loving and he'd do anything for anyone.
We celebrated with his family on Saturday at a pizza place and I made him a funfetti cake with chocolate frosting, per his request.

But today I'm going to make him some turtle brownies and one of his favorite dinners; chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy.

So Happy Birthday to the best husband and father ever!

Don't Cry Over Spilled Polish swap reveal/Mani Monday

I was so happy when my friend Rebecca asked me to co-host the polish swap with her and Shary! I love doing swaps and making new friends! I was partnered up with Tessa, she's so sweet and has some adorable kiddos! I had a lot of fun picking polishes for her (that I completely forgot to take a picture of) and added some chapstick and starburst to before I sent it out to her!

Here's what she sent me!
I love the little nail art stickers! And so does Lyla. I haven't tried the wraps before but I think I will soon. And the nails inc. floral polish is sooo cute!

I chose to do the pink with the floral accent nail. I need to figure out what to use to clean the polish from around the edges of my nails.. Is there anything special you use for it?

It's a Family Thing

My husband drag races every spring-fall and it is such a fun time for our whole family. This year we're getting a later start to it because we swapped our motor for a beefier, faster one and it's taking some time getting it ready and modifying the car for it. It's mainly him and his dad that work on the car, I help when I can but I've also got to watch the kids. While he's out there racing I'm usually recording it so we can watch for errors or photographing him with Buck strapped to my back and Lyla next to me! If they're not with me they're with my mother in law back at the trailer.

On bigger racing weekends when he'll be racing the whole weekend we usually take the motorhome out there Friday afternoon and camp there until Sunday evening. It's such a fun time! The atmosphere and the people out there are just awesome. They're always there to lend a hand with your car with an extra beer for you.

Last year was Lyla and Philip's first time camping out there, well camping in the motorhome at all, and they had a blast! I really can't wait to do it again! And I hope more of our family and friends can make it out to watch this year.

The sound of the cars puts him to sleep. And that's my dad photobombing.
 Hubby in full race gear.

Philip, Grandma (mother in law), Lyla and Grandpa (father in law).

Just happiness.
