Music Monday and Pregnancy update..

I can't remember if I saw this on someone's facebook or blog but I heard it and I'm loving it. I wish I could download it on my iphone! I love when someone can do a cover of a song and not butcher it..

I had a doctor appointment today. I'm one day further than I thought, so I'm 7 weeks 4 days.. Due 10/11/12!! Which is also my parents anniversary! She said everything looks good and I'll come back in in  3 weeks to hear the heartbeat. I was supposed to have my blood drawn today but they tried twice in each arm, 2 different nurses and could not get to a vein. I've never had this problem so they're pretty sure it has to do with being pregnant.

Dirty Secret Saturday

I was kinda excited when I saw Lena's post in my blog roll today! A place to share secrets! Exciting.. So I had to link up of course.. So here goes, here's my dirty secret..

In my family the only person who knows that I'm pregnant is my sister, she knows cause I can't keep secrets from her! I'm to nervous to tell anyone else. In Adam's family his parents, sister and grandma know. And they only know because I knew Adam couldn't keep a secret so I let him tell his parents. And I told his sister and Grandma because like Adam, his mom can't keep a secret and I knew she'd tell them.

But! If my mom knew that all these people knew weeks before she did she would not be happy! So shhhh!

Tasty Thursday- Pasta Bake

Last night I made one of my husbands favorite meals and decided to document it so that I could share it! Beware! I'm not the best food photographer.

Ingredients:
1 pkg Italian sausage
1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce
1 box of your favorite noodles
mozzarella cheese

1. I cook the sausages so they're a little hard and I slice them easier. Slice them and finish cooking.

2. Start cooking your sauce (technically you don't really have to but I also used some that I had leftover in the freezer). I used the new light smart because it's like half the calories, sugar but still a full serving of vegetables).

3. When the sausage is done add it to the sauce.

4. Boil the noodles for about 2/3 the time the box says too. Dreamfields makes a noodle that is diabetic friendly so I use those. My husband is diabetic. (you could use any type/shape of noodle)

5. Drain noodles and let them cool.

6. Mix the cheese in the sauce.

7. Mix the noodles and sauce together, put in a casserole dish and sprinkle some more cheese on top.

8. Bake on 350 for 25 minutes.

9. Serve and Enjoy!

Happy Valentines Day!

I hope everyone has a great day! I can't wait to see my daughters face when she opens the tea set I got her for Valentines Day! I was planning on buying my husband a watch but he bought his own present. New wheels for the race car!

But I do want to take a moment to talk about my amazing guy! 1.This man works his butt of for everything we have and so that my daughter and I get to be home with each other every day and he doesn't want it any other way. 2.He's so caring and sweet most of the time! 3. He's a jokester and tries to make everything funny. 4. "He" thinks he's an amazing cook. 5. He stopped doing laundry after ruining a few things (this really is a good thing)! 6.He is an uh-maze-ing daddy and will always make time to color with Lyla or help her with her block puzzle. 7.He offered to drive 18 miles to get me the ice cream I really want.. I didn't let him though! 8.He bought me a top of the line front loading washer/dryer for Valentine's Day last year. 9.He has the coolest hair (inside joke.. I told him once that I fell in love with him because he has cool hair) 10. He will do anything to make me happy.

Music Monday

For this Music Monday post I want to share a song that I really really love. The first time I heard this song was on my husbands (boyfriend at the time) truck and we were sitting in our driveway. It came on and we just sat there in the dark, listening to the whole song.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Friendly Friday-2

I wanted to take part in today's friendly Friday post so I could talk about my BFF Nicole (Nicki to me). She blogs over at .space&reasons. I'm sure I've talked about her like a gazillion times on my blog but you all need to hear about her again and go check her out!

She lives in Southern CA but is a totally country girl at heart! Her dream is to live on a bunch of land in Texas or Colorado or Oregon (I say Oregon because that's what I want for her). She loves animals and even works at the Humane Society near her. She has adopted 2 pit bulls, Jack and Darla and some cats. If you didn't click on the link for Jack you really should. He had a rough beginning but is such a happy boy now. They're both very lucky dogs to have Nicki for a mama!

Nicki also got engaged to a really amazing guy and is planning her own wedding for this coming October!  I sooo wish I could be down there helping but just like she did for me I'm helping her through emails and texts! So if you have any tips or advice for her please go to her blog and help a girl out!

Guest Post- Sew Ronimo

I'm so excited to be posting here today! Jenn is what I consider a good friend, yet we have never even met! She and I share a mutual best friend Nicole (check her out at space and reasons, she's awesome too). I can't wait to actually meet Jenn at Nicole's wedding this year! I'm seeing beers, hugs and maybe an embarrassing speech or two! It's gonna be grand! So thank you Jenn for having me here today! I'm so excited to share with you all how to draft a pattern!

Ever since I learned how to do this I feel like my sewing has gone to a whole new level. I am so much braver and feel so much more confident! I hope after we draft a pattern together you feel the same way! Lets get started shall we!?
First you will need:
A shirt (jacket, pants, dress) that fits your child well
Paper (either normal paper taped together, or a large roll)
Scissors ( not your fabric ones)
Pen
Optional:
Second pen
Tape

Okay so first you lay out your paper (or tape it together) so that it is big enough to lay the shirt on twice.
Fold the shirt in half so you are looking at the back. Line the side seams up as best you can. Lay it on the paper flat as you can.

Trace the shirt. label it "back" and write fold on the side that was folded.

Turn and fold it so that you are looking at the front, again line the side seams up as best you can. But this time you need to tuck the neck area in so that the front neck scoop (collar area) is exposed. You will see that the neck raises higher on the back of the shirt then on the front. Trace the shirt, make sure you get a trace of the front neck not the back.

Now trace the sleeve in the same fashion you did both sides of the shirt. But just lay the shirt flat. Now when you get to where the sleeve meets the body of the shirt draw a line out so you know where the seams meet. Do this at the top of the sleeve (shoulder) and the bottom of the sleeve (armpit) See the photo above.

Remove the shirt now that you are done tracing it and draw a curved line to connect the two seam lines you drew. Mimic the line of the sleeve seam that is on the shirt to the best of your ability. Label it and make sure to write fold on the top line, where the sleeve you traced was folded (the top of the arm)

Now you should have a front, back and sleeve drawn! Yay good job! So here you have two choices you can a) tape the second pen to your pen for an instant seam allowance or b) just cut your pattern a little wider then the lines you drew evenly all the way around.

For this tutorial I did the two taped pens, but honestly I prefer to just cut a bit wide. I find that I don't sew my seam allowances that wide and my shirt always ends up bigger then I wanted. So do what you feel would work best for you. No need to add any type of seam allowance on the "fold" sides!

Now that you have your pieces cut. lay your original shirt on top to ensure you are on track! Now you have a basic shirt pattern! Since is it just a basic shirt you can use this as a starting point for dresses and numerous other types of shirts!
I'd just like to add that when using this pattern to make a new top keep in mind the fabric that the shirt you traced was made of. If it was a stretchy cotton, you will need to use a fabric with a little bit of give (stretch) for your new top. And if you'd like to use a quilters cotton, which has no stretch then you will need to add a few buttons, or snaps so if will go over your child's head!
Hope this helped you learn how to draft your own pattern from a piece of clothing you already own! Best of luck! If you have any questions feel free to stop by my blog and ask!
Thanks again Jenn!
