Thankful Thursday- Week 3

I hope everyone is having a happy Thanksgiving!

It was no Hurricane Sandy but we've been having some crazy wind/rain this week.

I'll update you all on this next week.

Stole this from the Scotch Brite facebook!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

We have a very busy day tomorrow! We go to my grandparents house around noon, where all my dads family is (and never get to eat there because the food is never done when it's supposed to be). Leave there around 3 to go to Adam's parents house. I'd love to host it at my house sometime so everyone can come to our house instead of us driving so much! Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two holidays that I feel we HAVE to spend time with both families.

How do you spend your holiday? What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner?

What's on my mind.. And my heart..

I thought it'd be fun to link up with my sweet friend Kera over at Nugget on a Budget for her "on my mind" link up!

Right now what's on my mind is my son and his weight gain. He's had a rough start and hasn't been gaining weight like he's supposed to so we've been having to go back to the doctor every two weeks for weight checks. We also met with a lactation consultant last week and he had gained over an ounce a day in that week which is amazing! We also have an appointment with the doctor today to check him again and I'm praying that he's continued on that path and that last week wasn't just a fluke.

Smiling and talking to the wall..
And what's on my heart.. Sibling love and their relationship. Lyla loves her little brother so much and I'm pretty sure by the big smiles he gets when she's around that he loves her too. But will it always be like this? Will they always have such an unconditional love for each other? I'm hoping by having a 4 year age gap that she'll always kind of be more "mature" and never  rarely have that annoyance of him that older siblings sometimes have. My sister and I are only about 2 years apart and until high school we did everything together. In high school is when our relationship wasn't the greatest but it got better and now I consider her one of my best friends. I just really hope that they're always close and always there for each other.

I laid him on the bed to go to the bathroom and came back to this.. And she said "Look mommy, we're best friends" And then my heart exploded!

What's on your heart and mind?

Linking up with..

Thankful Thursday- Week 2

Sorry this post is getting out a little late. Today I took both kids out shopping (to more than one store) and to lunch for the first time.. It went well but we were gone longer than I thought we'd be. So here's what I've been thankful for this past week.

Family Traditions

We've had some family traditions in my family (my sister/parents) since I was a kid and I've kept them going in my little family. I think traditions are so important! The traditions in my family create family time and with a husband that works so much it's really nice to have that time together. There are also some traditions I'd like to create. I thought I'd share some that we already have and some that I'd like to create.

The weekend after Thanksgiving we always go cut down our Christmas tree and decorate it while watching Christmas movies.

The kids always get Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve to wear that night.

In my husbands family we always do a White Elephant gift exchange on Christmas Eve and the gifts are always hilarious, impractical things.

We always go to this really cute Fantasy Christmas Trail and drink hot chocolate.

We go to the pumpkin patch and do all the activities and then buy a pumpkin from the grocery store to carve! They're cheaper there haha

I'd like to start having a family pumpkin carving party where everyone brings a pumpkin, we carve them while eating yummy fall snacks.

I'd also like to start having a family movie night once a month where we eat pizza, popcorn and watch kiddie movies.

Every summer my husbands family rents 1-2 houses on the beach and everyone goes for a week.

So these are just some of ours and I'd love to have more! Do you have any family traditions? I'm always looking for more..

Family Photos..

I have a few friends who are "photographers" and wanted to use my family as guinea pigs for their practice and portfolios. So a couple weeks ago one of them came and did some newborn photos of Buck, I've only gotten a preview of those pics and can't wait to see the rest. Yesterday my other friend came to take some family pics! They're not the best pictures but they're not horrible either. I decided to share a few of my favorites with you guys.

Little girl was sick so I'm glad I got any good ones of her.

I think this one is so good because it wasn't posed. I had handed Adam the baby so I could get up and she just kept snapping.

Lyla's sassiness coming out..

This one I like but I'm going to try to recreate it myself because I think it could be better.

I'm going to try to recreate this one also..
Have you had any family photos done this season? I'd love to see them! Leave me a link..
