What Lyla Wore- Mini Style

I really liked this outfit that Lyla wore to school on Monday. I saw the shirt when I was out shopping last week and knew it'd look adorable on her. She looks pretty cute in button down shirts. But I might be biased!

Shirt: Fred Meyers
Jeans: Target
And of course no shoes again!

I helped at school that day, which I love to do! She got chosen to be the Happy Helper too!  She was way over me taking pictures by then!

What Lyla Wore Wednesday

I love to do these posts because I can look back and she how she's changed and I can show off her personal style, which sometimes is pretty crazy. Mostly I think she looks pretty cute! Although Daddy can be pretty embarrassed sometimes!

This week she wouldn't really cooperate and wouldn't keep her shoes on either.. She pretty much looks like a deer in headlights. Maybe next week will be better!

Jeans: Target
Shirt: The Children's Place

Making Memories 1

For Lyla's birthday she got a cake pop kit! It came with an idea/recipe book, sticks, a stand to hold them up while decorating them and little bags for wrapping them to give them away. She has been begging me to make them so I finally gave in and we got some cake mix and frosting to make them.

She did all the ingredients by herself, even the eggs and only got a few tiny shells in.

We made the cake and let it cool for a day. Smashed it up, rolled them into balls and refrigerated them for another day.

We got them out the next night and I tried to melt the white chocolate candy melts and add some purple dye and it just clumped up!! So since it was late I decided I would just put the balls in the freezer and we'd try again another day. So maybe later this week I'll have the finished product to show you!

Sewing Challenge

Over at Crazy Little Projects she's doing a year long sewing challenge and every month will post a few new tutorials to choose from and every one gets to choose what the want to make from them. You post them on all the social media sites and have a chance to win some cool prizes. Like this month you could win a serger or a new sewing machine. I'd love to have a serger!

This month I chose to make a pin tuck pouch! The directions said "easy enough, even for a beginner". Well I don't know about that but I tried it anyway. It was kind of frustrating and I had to rip a few seams. A lot of people complained about the directions not really being beginner friendly but so far no one has said they're just going up. My bag isn't perfect and now that I know what I'm doing and what I need to tweak I'm probably going to try it again.

Here's my bag:

I love to sew.. Do you sew at all?

Lyla Turns 5

Lyla's 5th birthday (I can't believe I have a 5 year old!!) was December 23 but we had her party on the 15th. Next year I think I'm going to have her party before Thanksgiving so that it's just about her and no Christmas decorations (I HAVE to decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving, it's been the tradition my whole life).
She told me like way back in the summer that she wanted a Little Mermaid party (I even blogged about it!!) So I had started to buy stuff since Joann's had beachy stuff on sale! Then in like September she changed her mind and wanted a Cinderella birthday. So here it is..

Favor bags: hot cocoa stirrers (got the idea from Aleisha),a cinderella picture with a quote from the movie on it, Doc McStuffins little book of booboos notebook, ice cream erasers)
In our family we all  like to make the birthday cakes homemade. Lyla chose a tie-dye cake and I totally spelled "birthday" wrong!
Lyla and one of her best friends, Brayden
The big kids were playing duck duck goose and Philip had to get in on it.
My sister (who actually took most of the pics for me) and her boyfriend Jeremiah.
Philip loving on Gracie.
Malia and Kendall, Lyla's second cousins.

She makes some pretty awesome faces when she's embarrassed!
She had a really fun day and on her actual birthday we took her out for pizza and to see Christmas lights, which is another tradition.
Daddy loves having his picture taken..It doesn't show does it?
I think that's it for her birthday post! Now to start deciding the theme for the big 6! Happy Thursday peoples!

Memories

You can call these whatever you want.. Goals, resolutions, missions, whatever.. But I've seen a lot of buzz going around the web and bloggers talking about their "word" for the year. Well I have a few..

1. This is my big one.. Do more fun stuff and make more *memories* with my kids. There is so much free stuff we could be doing!!

2. Be more *organized*. Starting with my craft stuff, my closets and cupboards!
And this is only 1/3 of it. There's more in the bottom and in Buck's closet.
3. Make me and my family more *healthy*. Since the beginning of school this year we have all been sick like non-stop!

So, what is your word, mission, resolution, goal?

Don't Cry Over Spilled Polish

Don't Cry Over Spilled Polish Exchange

Last month I participated in a fun exchange hosted by Rebecca from xoxoRebecca. I really really love to do exchanges/swaps/pen pal stuff so when she posted that she needed one more person to sign up I couldn't help myself! I just had to sign up even though I was already doing 2 other swaps! I love to do these because making friends is fun. A few people that I've swapped with I'm still friends with a few years later! Anyway, I was paired with Dara from  Not in Jersey. She's super sweet! Here's what I got..

Zoya glitter polishes, Physicians Formula grays, nail wraps and a cute little card

I love glitter/sparkly polishes but hate how hard they are to get off usually but these are the tiniest flakes of color and should be really easy to get off!

Painted Lyla's nails the gold sparkly color!
And painted mine the silver color with the black glittery color for an accent nail!

I really love the polishes I got! Thank you Dara and thank you Rebecca for hosting this!!
Stayed tuned next week for some birthday and Christmas recaps and some talk about my goals for the new year!

Ugh! Sorry about the picture quality! My cabinets, furniture and floors are all like a cherry color and make it hard to take pics in the house for some reason.
